Slices of Awareness is an educational event to learn about art, culture, history and politics of Palestine.
At the event, students will have displays related to Palestine and an inspiring presentation. We also have Guest Speakers, who will enlighten us on their experiences in the Occupied Territories of Palestine. We will end the event with a Q & A session with the Guest Speakers.
Every guest will receive a complimentary box of tasty Palestinian treats to take home and enjoy.

Displays
Students have spent considerable time and effort to learn about and research their topics and make their displays. Sources for each display will be provided as will a list of resources for further learning after the event.
West Hall: Displays by Grade 5, 6 and Junior High students on the following topics: Art, Books, Food, Fishing and Agriculture, Clothing, Culture, Maps, landmarks and geography, Aqsa Mosque
Main Hall: Displays by High school students on the following topics: Ancient History, Medieval History, Modern History, Apartheid System, Settler Colonialism, Current Genocide, Media Bias, Propaganda, Fake news, Symbolism, and BDS.

Guest Speakers
A panel of speakers who will share their perspectives and experiences regarding Palestine:
Vicki McPhee - lead minister at Symons Valley United Church. She was in the West Bank last year with the World Council of Churches to provide ecumenical accompaniment.
Peter Driftmier- a clinical social worker and active member of Independent Jewish Voices who spent a month working with Israeli and Palestinian NGOs in the occupied territories. Here is the link to Peter's blog: https://hineinica.wordpress.com/
Aseel Ayoub - a supply chain analyst and a proud Palestinian who regularly advocates for Palestine.
Claire Porter Robbins- a writer and an aid worker who was recently reporting from Palestine(https://www.claireporterrobbins.com/).
Walaa Taha(MC): a mental health counsellor and community educator.
Guest Speakers' talk will be followed by a moderated Q&A session based on Questions submitted by attendees
